Fine Arts » Art

The Providence Lower School Art program has 2 main objectives:

  1. Students study the great art of history and learn art appreciation in the context of a Biblical Worldview.
  2. Students learn art skills foundational to effective visual perception which is basic to the learning process.

Combining the two objectives, students learn about the methods of great artists using the masterworks as inspiration. Art projects are used to teach specific concepts of the elements of art-line, shape, form, color, value, texture, and space and the principles of design-balance, movement, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, pattern, and unity.
