Fall in Love with Reading Campaign
On October 8, 2009, the Lower School kicked off its “Fall in Love with Reading” campaign. Students enjoyed a fun-filled Pep Rally complete with talented student cheerleaders, funny teacher cheerleaders and a special guest appearance by the Chick fil A Cow. The three-month campaign includes visits from three authors including writing workshops, grade level weekly reading goals with prizes, Media Center “Name that Book” contests, a book fair, and “An Evening of Poetry” by the fifth graders at Barnes and Nobles. Classes worked hard to create beautiful hallway posters, reading skits and reading raps. The class in each grade level showing the most creativity for their masterpieces will be awarded a Pizza Party. Our Lower School is filled with wonderfully talented students! Please visit our Reading Hallways outside the Lower School Media Center to check out how many books our fabulous readers have already read.
Students in all grade levels are exceeding their weekly reading goals and exploring all types of reading genres. We believe we are well on our way toward fulfilling our mission to revive reading in our students. The first author who visited, Renee Meloche, paid our school a wonderful compliment at the end of her day. She said, “I have visited many schools, and your school has done a wonderful job of instilling a love for reading in your students.” MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!
