Activities Information
Teddy Bear Picnic: (August) Kindergarten enjoyed a wonderful picnic with our favorite bear friends. After a two week thematic unit on Bears, the children were so excited to have a picnic and bring their favorite stuffed bear from home. The children ate many sweet treats including berries, honey, and nuts to make the bears feel at home!
Hands on Museum/Ollie Koala's: The kindergarten students enjoyed their first field trip to the Hands on Museum. After a two week thematic unit on community helpers, the children dressed as their favorite community helpers. We had many doctors, nurses, police officers, military officers, etc. We also, attended the Hands on Museum where the children were able to play to their hearts content as postmen, firefighters, teachers, vets, actors, waiters, etc. The whole trip was topped off with pizza, fun, and games at Ollie Koala's.
Fire Station/Pumpkin Patch: Fall has arrived! Our trip to the pumpkin patch was wet, but as always, fun none the less. The children enjoyed sweet fall stories, snacks, and pumpkins at the st. Paul's Methodist Church. A visit to the fire station was awesome! The children even got to spray the hoses! We brushed up on our fire safety and had a great experience.
Indian Day: Our little Indians rotated around each kindergarten classroom as they made Indian headdresses, necklaces, bracelets, shakers, and pinch pots. The little tribes heard interesting Indian music and wonderful native american stories. This day prepared us for our Pow-wow next week.
Ft. Caroline: Our trip to Ft. Caroline was a huge success. Each Indian tribe participated in playing Indian games, taking a nature walk, touring a museum, and playing in the fort. The children got to experience what a real Indian might feel like.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus: The children will enjoy fun and excitement under the big top on January 17th at the circus. This trip has been a favorite to both parents and children alike. Clowns, animals, and exciting acts of all kinds will "wow" the crowd and be a memory for our little ones to treasure.
Love Around the World: Jesus loves the little children of the world. Love Around the World is a fun-filled day where the children rotate among the four kindergarten classes. The children will have their passport stamped as they visit Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, and Africa. The students will enjoy authentic food, music, dance, and crafts from each culture. We will pray for the nations. Our focus will be on how God has richly blessed each one of us and we will emphasize how our most important mission as Christians is to share the Good News about Jesus with the people of the world.
Spring Fling: Spring has sprung and our little butterflies will bedancing with excitement! The children will rotate among the four kindergarten classrooms. They will enjoy fun crafts, interesing stories, tasty treats, and good information about butterflies, ladybugs, frogs, and spiders. This is a great way to celebrate God's goodness and to kick off our beautiful spring season.
Jacksonville Zoological Gardens: It is zoo time!! The children love our field trip to the zoo in late April. We have a great time looking at the animals, riding the train, playing in the play area, and eating lunch together. Our little "monkeys" are full of energy and excitement as we observe each animal in its habitat.
Pump It Up: Our end of the year celebration is at Pump it Up followed by lunch at Sunshine Park. Jumping for joy and celebrating the completion of an awesome kindergarten year is our focus during this trip.
