How to use this Web Page

Providence School provides online resources for student use at school or home via remote access on the Internet.  The online subscriptions below require a username and password.  See your media specialist for a copy of this information.

The Jacksonville Public Library (see link below) provides a wealth of information and resources to the community.  Most of these databases can be accessed via the Internet, but they require a Public Library Card number.  Students and parents can find the library card application form online or in the Media Center from your media specialist.

InfoTrac Gold Online Databases
General periodical and reference book database and a complete one-stop source for information on social/controverial issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles. This site includes the following: Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center, Student Resource Center Gold, Gale Virtual Reference Library, Kid Infobits, LitFinder, Global Issues in Context, Testing and Education Reference Center, History Resource Center US and History Resource Center World

 

Literature Resource Center

Gale's comprehensive literary resource provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. The LRC covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of the most-studied authors.

This database is now available online from the Jacksonville Public Library.

Go to RESEARCH DATABASES.  A library card no. is required for access.  See your media specialist for card application forms.   For research topics you can't find anywhere, go to ASK A LIBRARIAN at the JAX Public Library Homepage.  You can email your question or chat online with a reference librarian.

Provides information on the cultures of 187 countries & territories.  Includes maps, statistics & indepth coverage in 25 categories; provides special features such as photos, recipes, famous persons and the 50 states.

Maps101 is a unique and comprehensive geography-centric online resource that makes the teaching of social studies interactive and engaging. See the media specialists for the login information.
