Portfolio Drawing/Painting III Description

The purpose of this course is to give students an understanding of design and composition in drawing and painting. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Advanced Placement Studio Art Description

The purpose of this course is to give advanced students the opportunity to develop quality, concentration, discipline, and breadth in drawing. The content should include, but not be limited to, the following:

This course is designed for students interested in majoring in Art and provides the opportunity to develop a portfolio. Emphasis in on the production of original and imaginative works of art which reflect an understanding of the elements of design and varied forms of expression. The content is specified by the College Board AP program.

Prerequisites: Permission of Teacher

Per the Providence Pupil Progression Plan the student must take the advanced placement exam as part of the requirements in order to pass any and all AP classes.

 

Band I-IV Description

The purpose of this course is to develop musicianship skills in band and instrumental ensembles. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Open to grades 9-12
Prerequisites: None (Students will be grouped by Teacher.)

 

Chorus I-IV Description

The purpose of this course is to provide experiences in basic vocal production techniques and part-singing. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Prerequisites: None (Students will be grouped by Teacher.)

 

Dance Techniques I Description

The purpose of this course is to acquire knowledge and skill in two or more styles of dance. Acquisition of technique should be stressed. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Credit: 1/2 (Semester) or Year
Open to grades 9-12
Prerequisites: None (Teacher will group students.)

 

Dance Techniques II Description

The purpose of this course is to extend the acquisition of knowledge and the development of techniques of dance. Acquisition of technique and choreography skills should be stressed.

Prerequisites: None (Teacher will group students.)
