4-Star Camps at the University of Virginia: a variety of enrichment classes including SAT/ACT Preparation, Math, Psychology, Essay Writing, Public Speaking, and Political Science. 2008 Summer Scholar Programs at the University of Miami: three-week program; students can earn college credits in subjects including broadcast journalism, engineering, forensic investigation, health and medicine, marine science, and multimedia design. Florida State University's Young Scholars Program: for students that have completed the eleventh grade; residential summer science and mathematics program for outstanding Florida students; tuition, room and board paid for by Florida State University; applications due March 15, 2008; see Guidance Office for application and more information.
Summer Study at Penn State: 6 1/2 week college credit program at Penn State University; for students completing 10th, 11th, or 12th grade may earn 3-6 college credits and participate in non-credit enrichment classes, test prep or community service. Summer Study in Colorado at the University of Colarado at Boulder: 5-week college credit or 3-week non-credit enrichment programs include travel weekends to ski and white water rafting destinations, Kaplan SAT Preparation, rock climbing, educational studies, and more; for grades 9-12. Summer Study in Paris at the Sorbonne: 5-week college credit or 3-week non-credit enrichment programs include French instruction, test prep, travel weekends, and cultural outings. For students completing 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. See www.bestsummerever.com for details.
National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine: intensive 10-day programs in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco or Washington, D.C. to learn about medicine, research in medicine, and technological advances in the field. The program offers seminars with practitioners and pioneers in the field; for students 9-12 grade; see Guidance Office for more information and nomination.
Bank of America Student Leader Program:
For 2007-2008 Juniors and Seniors - the Bank of America Student Leader Program. This program is a unique component of the Bank’s signature philanthropic program, the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, and is designed to recognize exemplary young people with a passion for helping their communities thrive.
Students who are selected as a Bank of America Student Leader will:
- Participate in an eight -week, paid summer internship with a local non-profit organization
- Attend a week-long Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.
- Develop valuable civic, social, and business leadership skills
