And contrary to popular belief, the journey does not begin by getting to know or studying others outside your race or culture. No, this journey begins by taking an introspective look at your race, diversity and culture. A Three- Act-Task consists of engaging the student in a math problem through a set of images or video where students record what they observe and what they wonder about from the problem. Students then use questioning to determine what information is needed to solve the problem and provided the requested information. Finally, students solve the problem. In this session teachers will participate in a sample Three-Act-Task and see how they could use it in their math classrooms. Teachers will also be provided with resources for tasks that are already available for use in their classroom.
