Room: 5278 – Holcomb
An overview of current research data that supports Christian education and Biblical Worlview training for our students.
Room: 5205 – Pringle
In traditional 6th – 12th grade math classrooms, the teacher introduces new concepts with a lecture, provides several examples, and then students get an opportunity to practice. During this seminar we will look at ways to reverse that model and more actively involve your students in class. With the “Experience First, Formalize Later” model, students begin to take responsibility for their part in the learning process.
Room: 5220 – US Media Center
Explore various strategies that work with any grade level, in any classroom.
Room: 5288 – Higginbotham
Explore best practices in communication for teachers, deans, and administrators.
Room: 5211 – McAleer
This session will provide an introduction to Curriculum Trak and the benefits of planning electronically through units and weekly plans including strategies for teaching from a biblical worldview and for differentiated learning. Curriculum Trak will enable teachers to plan well and efficiently, so that time in the classroom is focused on students and learning.
Room: 5285 – Paretta
Decades of research show that student motivation is directly influenced by having a growth mindset (see mindsetworks.com). This session will highlight a lesson that can be used with students to share about growth mindset using visuals and a hands-on activity. When students and educators know how their brains work and that growth happens throughout life, they can develop this mindset and partner together for having promoting this mindset throughout the school year.
Room: 5213 – Joyce
Harkness is not a pedagogy. It’s a way of life. It begins in the classroom and extends beyond it, to the field, stage and common room. It’s about collaboration and respect, where every voice carries equal weight, even when you don’t agree.Through Harkness students explore ideas as a group, developing the courage to speak, the compassion to listen and the empathy to understand. It’s not about being right or wrong. It’s a collaborative approach to problem solving and learning. It can be used in every discipline and subject.
Room: 5121 – LS Dining Hall
This presentation is a look into the mind and heart of T. Wayne Phillips, a veteran Christian Educator. How is Scripture Presented? Teaching Students, not disciplines. Listening vs. Hearing, Displaying the Fruits of the Spirit, Speaking into the heart of every child, building confidence in the heart of the child.
Room: 5212 – Smith
Becoming culturally competent and inclusive is not a race, it is a marathon. And contrary to popular belief, the journey does not begin by getting to know or studying others outside your race or culture. No, this journey begins by taking an introspective look at your race, diversity and culture. This session will review the role of individual bias, the responsibility of personal privilege, and explore how to move forward along the cultural competency continuum.
Room: 5182 – Wright
This session is designed for Admissions/Advancement/Alumni colleagues in the Jacksonville area who would like to discuss the common issues that we face on a daily basis. We look forward to establishing a relationship with you as we learn from each other.
Room: 5183 – Gray Toro
A Three- Act-Task consists of engaging the student in a math problem through a set of images or video where students record what they observe and what they wonder about from the problem. Students then use questioning to determine what information is needed to solve the problem and provided the requested information. Finally, students solve the problem. In this session teachers will participate in a sample Three-Act-Task and see how they could use it in their math classrooms. Teachers will also be provided with resources for tasks that are already available for use in their classroom.
Room: 5208 – Norton
Easy science labs requiring simple materials.
Room: 5280 – Peck

It takes all of the pieces we know as believers and helps us tie them together in a simple way. It’s a conversation map that can guide discussions with our students in the hallways, in the classroom, and on the field.
