The Providence Theatre Department, featuring more than 75 students from Providence School, are excited to present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s contemporary take on the classic tale of Cinderella. This new revival mixes the traditional pumpkin and glass slippers with surprising plot twists and energetic, new characters. This endearing and updated Broadway version promises something for children of all ages!

Join us as the most beloved fairy tale of all time comes to life and transports you back to your childhood. Spirited, romantic, and heart-warming, this retelling of Cinderella will leave you believing that anything is possible. The beautiful story of love and hope unfolds through captivating songs, like “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.” Casting was determined last fall by a panel of three award-winning national and local theatre professionals. This year’s cast reflects the depth of talent that is the Providence Theatre Department. Sophomore Hayley Stoddard shines as the enchanting “Ella”, senior Seth Pringle makes his stage debut as the gregarious and goofy “Prince Topher”, and senior Allison Matthews steps on the scene as the delightful “Marie”, the fairy godmother. Other lead role debuts include senior Matthew Welcome as the passionate revolutionary, “Jean-Michel”, as well as those playing the step-sisters, junior, Alyson Culbertson and senior, Angela Pisano. With numerous rousing dance numbers, the featured dancers bring to life the playful musical score.  Even the costumes and scenic elements have a magic that is unmistakably Cinderella.  This performance is not to be missed, so reserve your seat now and come be inspired!

As in year’s past, Mrs. Hudson chose not to cast the show herself. This year, the casting panel consisted of three award-winning, local and national theatre professionals to audition the students and cast the show. Each of the judges brought their unique insight and perspective to the process. This gave each student the opportunity to experience a real audition process, including callbacks. With skills like this, that so closely simulate a job interview, all of these students are way ahead of the game! This was just one more way our theatre department prepares our students for life while they have fun doing what they love!
