Happy Easter Providence,

This weekend is the Super Bowl of Christianity! We remember with grateful hearts what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has done for us! Tomorrow we remember the sacrifice that He gave, the perfect man without sin died on a cross for our iniquity. This Sunday, we will celebrate that Jesus’ tomb was and is empty! Jesus Christ defeated sin and all we have to do is have the faith to believe in Him and ask Him to forgive us! He is the greatest gift ever given!  I know you join me and the Providence faculty and staff in remembering the death and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ. The spotless lamb offered as an atonement for our sins. We, like Barabbas, have been set free through Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Blessings and Joy this Easter weekend!

COVID Update
We currently have four Covid-19 positive cases. Please partner with us and have your student arrive at school with their mask every day.  Please keep one in their backpack as a backup. Be sure to send an email to notify the school that a 6th-12th grade student is attending virtual learning by 7:30 am to nurses, teachers, and attendance. Students may not attend virtually for partial days.

We have implemented a new policy when students have 3 consecutive absences/virtual attendance. The student will now be required to provide a doctor’s note to return after 3 days of virtual attendance or absence. Doctor’s notes are STILL required when your child arrives late to school due to an appointment per our student handbook. We appreciate your partnership and we are praying for all of those who have been affected by COVID-19.  Covid-19 Info Webpage

4th Grade Visits The Zoo
The 4th grade students and their parents explored the Jacksonville Zoo on Friday, March 26th. The students participated in a Wild Florida educational program. They explored the unique diversity we have in our own backyards. In this class the students learned about the native and invasive species that call Florida home. The rest of the time was spent walking around the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the only walking safari in Northeast Florida. The students had a great time enjoying God’s creations and spending time with their friends.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2021 Father Daughter Dance.  This is a fun-filled night for Providence girls age 3 through 5th Grade and dads of all ages. Enjoy dinner out on your own then join us for a South-of-the-Border style Fiesta filled with dessert, dancing, and more!  Learn More.

4th Grade Wax Museum
Over the last few weeks, the 4th Grade students were  busy working on a biography research project on a famous historical figure. Students research a person, write a biography report, and “be” the person in a living wax museum. The culminating part of this project is an amazing Wax Museum where students dress up as the person they have learned about and stand still, like a Wax Museum, until someone walks up to them and presses their button.  Due to COVID-19, we were unable to do this in person but are creating a video instead. The video will be finished soon. Learn More.

Sheriff Mike Williams Visits Providence
The 7th Grade Civics In Action Series continued this week with a visit from Sherriff Mike Williams. Sherriff Williams shared about his experience being elected to Sherriff in 2015 and reelected in 2019.  Some of his accomplishments include leading a nationally recognized SWAT Team, implementing programs to better fight sexual predators and offenders; developing narcotics and gun crime-fighting units considered to be among the best law enforcement “partners” on complicated cases; advancing JSO’s commitment to training for the bomb squad and dive team, resulting in both specialties now nationally recognized for their training expertise.  The session ended with a question and answer session from the students.

Parents Guide to Technology
Please take the time to read over this helpful Parent’s Guide to Today’s Technology.  There are some really helpful thoughts and tips promoting the healthy use of technology for us and our children.  We encouraged our students this week with this clip about oversharing and our digital footprint.  It’s so important to know that what we share online doesn’t disappear; we have to really think about what we may post before we send anything digitally.

The impact “Friday Night Lights” and a strong football program has on a school positively changes the overall culture and climate. It gives a school and community a sense of pride, camaraderie and builds tradition. In 2019 our Stallion Football Team won the First Coast Division Championship. We are proud to have been a playoff team the last 2 seasons.  The class of 2021 graduating Stallion Football Team has 3 seniors who signed to play football at the collegiate level.
