Providence COVID Update
We currently have no students quarantining for COVID19 due to school exposure. Flu season officially began October 1st. Pediatricians and health care professionals are pushing flu shots more than ever due to COVID19 and the community’s decreased immune systems from prolonged quarantining. Flu vaccines DO NOT cause you to get the flu. Even if you still get the flu but were vaccinated, it could significantly decrease your symptoms and length of illness.
Grades 6-12 Diversity Survey
We are excited to announce that all 6th-12th graders had the opportunity on Thursday to provide personal feedback regarding diversity at Providence. Below you will see the 5 questions the students were asked to answer. The first 200 people that completed the short survey were eligible for a prize drawing. Our students’ honest feedback is very valuable to Providence. Student Diversity Survey
Hispanic Heritage Month
Buenos días! September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month and the Spanish Honor Society and the upper level Spanish classes have completed creative projects to highlight awareness and celebrate the diversity of culture in America. In the foyer by the gym is a display of Hispanic influence and influencers, and upstairs outside the band room, are recreations of art by famous Hispanic painters and artists like Diego Rivera, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali. Students will also be playing a Kahoot game during lunch as a fun activity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

High School Engineering Build Rube Goldberg Machines
Last week Ms. Monroe’s high school Intro to Engineering class had to design and build Rube Goldberg Machines. Goldberg was an American Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor, and his work is a classic example of the melding of art and science. Students had to research, get inspired, find a problem, get supplies, and build a machine that solves that problem.
