Altenbach Family Playground

Providence School’s Lower School Playground project, fully funded in just a few weeks through the generosity of families and corporate partners in Fall 2025, is now complete and officially open!

Designed by Providence alumnus Branden Langenberg, owner of Backyard Family Fun, the playground was created in collaboration with Lower School faculty and school leadership. Teachers from every grade, Kindergarten through fifth, helped shape equipment selection and layout to ensure the space serves students at every age and stage. Much of the equipment is intentionally movable, supporting long-term campus planning and future expansion.

Students began enjoying the playground prior to Spring Break, with a formal dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony held March 27, 2026, for project donors and fifth grade students. The celebration opened with Providence’s drumline and cheerleaders and included a prayer dedicating the space to safety, joyful learning, and Christ-centered community.

During the ceremony, Lower School Principal Mrs. Mills recognized the School Board, Administration, Langenberg, and the Facilities team for delivering the project on schedule. Advancement Director Robyn Reeves announced the official naming of the Altenbach Family Playground, honoring Sean and Lydia Altenbach for their transformational generosity and leadership through a challenge match that helped ensure the project’s completion.

The Altenbach family joined school leaders to cut the commemorative ribbon before students explored the new structures, courts, swings, pavilions, and turfed play areas. The playground joins the King Center (opened 2023) and the Providence Aquatic Center (opened 2025) as recent campus enhancements made possible through capital campaigns and generous donors, reflecting Providence School’s continued investment in its students and community.
