Curriculum Overview

Learning Concepts

Children will be introduced to many concepts during interactive circle times, such as letter recognition, phonetics, number recognition, shapes, colors, vocabulary words, and subject themes. In addition, theme-based literacy books are used to help learn about subjects and instill a love for reading. Children are encouraged to write and draw to help expand learning opportunities.

Gross Motor Skills

Children have many opportunities throughout the day to develop their gross motor skills. Playground time is offered in the morning and the afternoon. Our large playground includes a tricycle path, swings, slides, climbing equipment, discovery tables, and natural areas for the children to explore. In addition, children have access to our indoor “Park” one morning a week and most afternoons. The indoor “Park” includes additional games and materials that allow children to be active and interact with each other.

Extraordinary Adventures

Our preschool loves special events!  It is amazing to see the children’s faces as we wrap up a theme in a memorable, fun way! Some of our special events are Jaguar Day, Farm Day, Snow Day, and an End of Year Inflatable Fun Day! We love to celebrate and make lasting memories with the children. Special event days occur once a month and families are always welcome to join us on these special days!

Curriculum

A Love for Learning Starts Early

Art

We believe children learn by being active and hands-on. Every classroom has daily, age appropriate art activities to help children learn and create. Children will learn how to cut, glue, color, paint and draw.

Bible & Prayer

Learning God’s word is an integral part of our curriculum. Our day starts with prayer and it is incorporated throughout the day. Children have the opportunity to learn weekly Bible lessons, stories, and memory verses.

Chapel

Students enjoy participating in chapel services that build on the foundation of their faith in God.

Character

We teach children The Golden Rule – treat others the way you want to be treated. Each month we highlight specific character traits from the Fruits of the Spirit in the Bible to help children learn to follow this The Golden Rule.

Library

Preschool students enjoy visiting our library and have special story times with special guests during the year.

Music

Praise/Worship/Music time is embedded in our curriculum and children experience music on a daily basis in their classrooms. On Fridays we have Fun & Praise which is a time to sing and dance along to fun children’s songs.

Playground

Our preschool students discover what it truly means to find joy in active play, healthy living habits, and exercise.

Spanish

Our curriculum includes Spanish instruction for each age group. Children will learn colors, numbers, greetings and basic words that correlate to our monthly themes. In addition, children ages 3-5 have a weekly Spanish class with our Spanish teacher.

STEM

Our curriculum includes STEM activities for each age group. Children have a weekly theme based Science lesson and also visit our interactive Science, Construction and Technology rooms. In addition, our 4 & 5 year old children have a bi-weekly STEM class with the main campus’ STEM teacher.

Technology

Technology is used to enhancing daily learning in the Technology/Library Room as well as portable tablets.

Top Bee

Each week a child from every class is selected as a Top Bee. This is based on demonstrating the Fruits of the Spirit and following The Golden Rule. The Top Bee is announced at the beginning of every chapel and their picture is then placed in the school beehive for all to see!
