Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Yokitis went to Washington, D.C. last month with three Providence High School students, Kristen Makhlouf, Caden Crews, and Grady Carter. They attended the ACSI Public Policy & Advocacy Summit, where students got a firsthand look at how faith, public policy, and advocacy intersect. They all took Mrs. Pellegrino-Yokitis’ APUSH last year and all expressed an interest in law and politics. Both Grady Carter and Caden Crews intend to work in Washington, D.C. at some point in their careers. Kristen intends to pursue a career in law.
Throughout the summit, students are learning about the legislative process, discussing issues that impact Christian education and religious freedom, and discovering how they can effectively advocate for their beliefs. They’re also took their learning directly to Capitol Hill, where they had the opportunity to meet with elected officials and see our government at work.
This meaningful student experience was made possible through the Stallion Annual Fund (SAF). We’re grateful for the generosity of our Providence community that helps take learning beyond the classroom and provides opportunities like this for our students and faculty.
