Honoring Mr. Larry
Providence School & his church, New Life Christian Fellowship, will be honoring Mr. Larry over the next few days. Please feel free to share your stories, photos, and gifts of love here. All memorial gifts collected during this time through the donation dress-down day and online memorial giving will go 100% to support his wife, Helen, with unexpected expenses during his illness. We greatly appreciate our extended Providence family supporting one of our own during this time in this way. Please know these gifts are not tax deductible as they will go directly to Mrs. Ray and not reside with Providence School or New Life Christian Fellowship. Please continue to lift up his wife and family in your prayers.
Lights On For Mr. Larry
On April 22, 2021, our beloved Mr. Larry will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. While this is a private ceremony, Providence School would like to honor Larry tomorrow with “Lights On For Mr. Larry”. We will have his motorcycle set-up in front of the flagpoles as a memorial and are asking all families to pull through the carline drop-off with your lights on in his memory.
Donation Patriotic Dress Down Day
To honor Mr. Larry and his legacy as a veteran of the US Army, we will have a Patriotic Donation Dress Down Day next Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Students may donate to participate in this dress down day, and all proceeds will go to his wife, Helen, to help with unexpected expenses. Students may dress in red, white and blue attire that is Providence friendly and meets our dress codes guidelines.

“Mr. Larry”
It is with a heavy, sorrowful, and mourning heart that I write this communication. Our beloved security guard, Mr. Larry, is home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was called home today, April 19, 2021. During his time here, Mr. Larry has impacted everyone at Providence. His rugged demeanor, along with his heartwarming smile, kept our school safe for many years. His love of Christ and Providence was evident to all, especially those who got a lollipop from him! He was cherished by our students and parents alike. He will be greatly missed as he has been the welcoming face of Providence and a faithful employee for 13 years.
Our entire Providence and New Life community has been affected by the passing of Mr. Larry. We will do our best to speak the truth in love to our students, teachers, and staff as we mourn his absence. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:7-16). Rest assured as believers in Christ Jesus, Mr. Larry’s home going is not goodbye; rather, it is see you later. Mr. Larry is now walking, or riding a heavenly Harley, on a street of gold. He now walks and rides by sight and I believe he has been added to the heavenly guard! Please be in prayer for Mr. Larry’s wife, Helen.
