The 2022-23 Lady Stallions Basketball season was nothing short of historic. The team earned the District Championship for the 4th time in school history – the first time back to back. As Regional Champions for the second time, they earned a trip to the FHSAA 3A State Championship tournament. Led by four seniors, 1000-point Ella Ortman, Lillie Beth Novak, Abby Kanady, and Emily Shami, all of which have played in the program since Middle School. The team was comprised of a talented group of underclassmen including four freshmen.

For the second time in 6 years, the Lady Stallions confronted the seven-time State Champions, Miami Country Day, in the State Semifinal game. It was a bittersweet return to the RP Funding Center for the coaches, one of whom played on that team, alumni Maria Kuhlman.  There were a lot of similarities between this State run and the one in 2017. “Even though we didn’t win, making it to the Final 4 is a win! I’m extremely proud of this year’s team and how they matured and developed fighting through tough competition and rising to the challenge of an extremely rigorous schedule,” said Coach Bistrow. The Lady Stallions season ended on Wednesday with a 22-6 record and our Seniors will be greatly missed, but the future is very bright for this young team.
