Providence Hosts 3rd Annual Special Olympics Field Day

On Thursday, March 5, Providence School proudly hosted Special Olympics Florida for our 3rd Annual Field Day—a joyful morning filled with celebration, laughter, and unforgettable moments. The campus came alive as athletes, students, and volunteers gathered for a day dedicated to encouragement, friendship, and community.

The celebration began with a parade down Stallion Walk, where athletes were welcomed by a cheering line of Providence volunteers, along with our mascot Maverick and Head of School Dr. Anderson. The opening ceremony featured the Stallion Marching Band and the National Championship Junior High Intermediate Cheer Team, creating an exciting start to the day.

More than 150 Special Olympics athletes from four local schools joined Providence students of similar ages for a morning of basketball, kickball, pizza, cookies, laughter, and new friendships. Over 160 Providence middle and high school volunteers from various clubs and teams served throughout the event, cheering and connecting with the athletes.

The Jacksonville School for Autism shared, “What made the event even more special was the warm welcome from the Providence students, who enthusiastically partnered with and cheered on our students with unique abilities. It was inspiring to see students from both schools encouraging one another and celebrating achievements.”

Thank you to the students, teachers, and other volunteers who made this day so meaningful for our guests. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another incredible Field Day next year!
