On Thursday, August 2, the faculty and staff of Providence School took part in active shooter training ahead of the first day of classes August 8. Providence is dedicated to keeping up with best practices to ensure our students, employees and visitors are safe while on campus. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7. Our staff was encouraged not to operate in a spirit of fear, but in order to be better prepared, they were given additional strategies and techniques to handle an emergency situation.
In addition, We have also introduced a new visitor check-in program to strenthgen our campus safety program. The Raptor Visitor Management System is being used to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. We have updated our security software and need your help to maintain a time efficient process when you check-in. To make this quick and efficient, we are requesting all parents to stop by the main office at any time during working hours to scan your driver’s license into the new system. There will also be stations set up during Upper School Prep Day for this as well. Having you already in our system will help to keep the check-in time low when you come to visit throughout the year and at special events.
