Band Excelled at Adjudicated Performance

Providence Band students have worked hard and consistently excelled at adjudicated performance events over the past month!

The Jazz Band earned Superior ratings from all the judges (known as Straight Superior Ratings) for their performance at First Coast High School on February 14th. This is the fourth year of an overall superior rating for jazz in-a-row!

Over the following two days 40 solos and two ensembles were performed for judges. Both ensembles were rated Superior and 30 of the solos were rated Superior. Of those superiors, 6 events were high school students who played at least a grade 5 difficulty and qualified to perform again at state! Those students were: Natalie Johnson (12th) – Clarinet Solo, Spencer Maerkl (12th) – Trumpet Solo, Jeremy Rice (12th) – Euphonium Solo, Jaylen Wilkerson (12th) – Snare Solo, Robby Rivera (10th) – Snare Solo & Marimba Solo, and Alex Budnik (9th) – Baritone Saxophone Solo.

On February 28th the band returned one more time to First Coast High, this time with our concert bands.

Our primarily 6th and 7th Grade Concert Band earned two Excellents and one Superior on stage and were rated Superior in sight reading for an Overall Excellent!

The Wind Ensemble, made up primarily of 8th-12th graders, received Superior ratings from two judges and an Excellent from one. They also earned a Superior in sight reading for an OVERALL SUPERIOR, our third year in-a row!

All glory to God for what He has done through the Providence Band!
